While most of us may have learned in high school how to go about writing a formal or business letter in English classes, many have forgotten all but the most basic elements. One thing that you do have to remember is that this type of letter must be properly formatted and written if you want the reader to take your letter seriously. To make things much easier you can use a template for writing a formal letter that will help you to put forward your ideas in a very clear format.
Before you begin writing, however, it is important to first know exactly what a hardship letter is. In general, it is a letter written to your lender describing in detail the situation you are in that has caused you to default on your current mortgage.
