Time is the self-proclaiming constant in any project. Resources, schedules, even requirements can change but no one can manipulate time. And, from my own experience I can attest that "rushing against time" never works. Time always wins that race! This is why "planning" is your trump card. Knowing and understanding your plan and everything you have to do at all times will give you the leverage you need to shift gears at any moment. Schedule your various tasks with enough time to comfortably finish each task properly and adequately. Your motto should be to "do it right the first time and forget it."
I have put together a family organizer that helps me keep track of my family`s activities from week to week. This organizer makes it easy to keep track of almost anything. One day I was looking at the ready-made templates that came with my word processing program, and I noticed there were many home-related templates already made up for me to use for my organizer. There was a monthly calendar and a weekly menu planner and grocery shopping list. I made a calendar for every month of the year to write important dates to remember, and printed out enough weekly menu planners to last a month or two.
Another thing you can do is get yourself one of those fantastic diary planners. These business diaries or organizers are exactly that - the key to being well organized. Once again you need to adopt the habit of writing your plans and ideas down as they come to you. Think in writing. When you know the next appointment you will have - write it in. This includes important phone calls, business meetings and family get-togethers. This way you are really utilizing the true benefits to a calendar.
When selecting a printable planner, consider how you will use it. Do you like one full, letter-size page for each month, like a traditional wall planner? Do you prefer a planner that is oriented horizontally or vertically? Do you want all 12 months on one page to tack to a bulletin board by your desk? Or perhaps a wallet-sized planner will best suit your needs. planners won`t help you keep track of your life if they are inconvenient to use, so be sure to choose one you like.
